The Tag

A tamper-proof RFID tag assigned to the rider is attached to the spokes of the bike's front wheel. To prevent cheating, the tag is specially designed to be disabled if it is removed.

The Station

ZAP stations are placed at one or more strategic locations. The stations can identify bikes up to 30 feet away. When tagged bicyclists enter the read zone, the ZAP unit emits an audible beep and a flash of light to indicate to the cyclist that their ride has been recognized.

The ZAP unit is solar powered and communicates via Wi-Fi or mobile cellular connection*, so stations can be easily installed wherever there is adequate sunlight and Wi-Fi or mobile service.
